70 years later, after the water plant was demolished, the area was again reassigned for a symbol of modernity: the first skyscrapers from Nishi-Shinjuku. The very first one was the Keio Plaza Hotel, built in 1971, and in my photo you can see, from right to left: the Sompo Japan Building, the Shinjuku Nomura Building, the Shinjuku Center Building, the Shinjuku Mitsui Building and the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building, all of them built during the following 8 years.
Today, all these buildings are almost 40 years old, but the place still gives off a feeling of modernity...
