Tokyo Nishi-Shinjuku skyscrapers

Since most of its skyscrapers are over 40 years old, the Nishi-Shinjuku district of Tokyo is already considered an "old" area. Even the "youngest" of its skyscrapers, the curved Mode Gakuen Cocoon Tower (on the bottom right corner of the photo), was finished in 2008, so it's almost a decade old.

The development of skyscrapers in Nishi-Shinjuku started in 1971 with the Keio Plaza Hotel, followed by three others in 1974. In 1991, when the Tokyo Metropolitan Government was inaugurated, there were already 17 skyscrapers here.
