Tokyo Sky Tree Night Lighting on New Year's Eve

Mon, January 2, 2012, by Muza-chan
Spending the New Year's night in Asakusa, Tokyo, I had the chance to admire the Tokyo Sky Tree's night lighting design. Of course, I couldn't resist to go and search for a position that would allow me to take a picture... It wasn't lit for a long time and I managed to snap this photo just a few minutes before the lights went off (around 1AM).

Actually, the Tokyo Sky Tree will feature 2 types of lighting, the one from this photo (called Miyabi, which means refinement and is a Japanese traditional aesthetic ideal) and another one which will let us see the core of the tower (called Iki, representing the spirit of the Edo people).

I can tell you that the tower looks astonishing at night, with the observatories seeming to float over the Tokyo's sky. It also seems to be quite close, but I measured on Google Maps that when I took the photo, I was exactly 1 kilometer away...
