Muza-chan's Gate to Japan

Umeda Sky Building

Tue, August 23, 2011, by Muza-chan
One of the most spectacular skyscrapers from Japan is located in Osaka: the Umeda Sky Building. At only 173 meters it is not very tall, but the design is astonishing.

The building was part of a project called the City of Air, which planned to interconnect 4 towers. In the end, only 2 towers were built but even so, the result seems to be taken from a sci-fi movie. The deck connecting the towers is a huge observatory called the Floating Garden Observatory, which offers a 360 degrees panorama over the city.

Finished in 1993, the building was designed by Hiroshi Hara, who also designed the Kyoto Station (which I'll be visiting soon).
