Yasukuni shrine Noh stage

Japan's oldest Noh theater stage, dating since the era of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, is maintained in a restricted area at the Nishi Honganji temple in Kyoto.

However, one of the few open-air Noh stages can be admired at the Yasukuni shrine in Tokyo. Made 137 years ago in the Shiba Park, it was moved here in 1903. The design was inspired by the by the kagura-den stage of the Shinto shrines, which were often used to play Noh.
