The Yosakoi festival begun 62 years ago in Kochi, on the Shikoku island, where it is still held every year, at the beginning of August. Since then, the festival grew continuously, and today you can enjoy Yosakoi festivals in many other Japanese cities, and even in some other countries.

One of the most accessible Yosakoi venues is in Odaiba, Tokyo, where the festival is held in autumn. With over 100 participating teams, it is a wonderful visual experience, the teams competing through dance, beautiful costumes and attractive accessories, like the one photographed here using wagasa traditional Japanese umbrellas.
