Dogo Onsen, one of the Three Ancient Springs

Tue, October 3, 2017

Dōgo Onsen, in the Ehime Prefectire, is one of the Three Ancient Springs, together with the Arima Onsen in the Hyōgo Prefecture and the Nanki-Shirahama Onsen in Wakayama Prefecture.

With a history of more than a thousand years, the bathing facility also holds the record of having the only onsen type building recognized as important cultural asset. The construction, 123 years old, is famous for having inspired the famous director Hayao Miyazaki for its the Spirited Away movie.
