Zuisho-ji, Tokyo

Thu, July 6, 2017

Established by the disciples of the founder of Ōbaku-shū, the third school of Zen Buddhism in Japan, the temple Zuisho-ji in Tokyo remained until today one of the main temples of the sect.

The main building, photographed here, was rebuilt in 1984 by using the initial plans made during the Edo Period, and was declared a national treasure. It is a quiet and peaceful place in Meguro, in the middle of the bustling city, and it is included in one of the main routes for the 7 Lucky Gods pilgrimage in Tokyo.
