Old and new in Kyoto, the Toji pagoda and a Shinkansen

With a height of 54 meters, the five-story pagoda of Tō-ji was for the last 400 years the most recognizable landmark for any traveler approaching Kyoto.

And since in Kyoto the landscape didn’t changed as much as in other Japanese cities, the Tō-ji pagoda is still the first building that draws the traveler’s attention when coming to Kyoto. It’s just that today we arrive here by Shinkansen…
