Tokyo Tsukishima Island bird's eye view

Sat, September 10, 2016

Seen from above, the Tsukishima island looks like an ultra-modern area, with high-rise residential complexes surrounded by greenery. However, its best attribute is the low-rise area in the forefront of this photo, which is one of the best preserved old neighborhoods in Tokyo.

The place suffered only minor damages during the Great Kanto Earthquake and wasn’t bombed during the WWII, so it remained almost unchanged since the end of the 19th century. It’s a place best to be explored by foot and offers one of the best bird’s eye views, as you can see in this photo taken from the Saint Luke’s Tower skyscraper.
