Yamanote train

For many people, the distinctive silver-green Yamanote loop line trains are among the images defining Tokyo.

One of the most crowded and tightly scheduled lines in Tokyo, Yamanote is equipped with top of the line rolling stock, trains being often replaced by more advanced series. The train photographed here, an E231-500 series constructed between 2002 and 2005, are scheduled to be completely replaced until 2020 by the newer E235 series…
