Osaka Castle

It is said that when Toyotomi Hideyoshi started the construction of the Osaka castle, he desired to surpass everything that was built before. Learning that, many daimyo donated large rocks, some of them rare, to be used for the construction of the castle’s walls. Among them are several colossal rocks, weighting over 100 tons.

Many walls were destroyed during battles, but in the reconstruction the original stones were reused, and today the Osaka castle is among the longest walled Japanese castles…
