There are about 200 varieties of cherry trees in Japan, but some of them look very similar, being hard to distinguish for the untrained eye.
The Shidarezakura ("Weeping cherry tree"), whose blossoms are photographed here, might be the most easy to identify variety, due to its drooping branches making it resemble a weeping willow.
