Shiodome

If you look today at the spectacular urban center of Shiodome, in Minato, Tokyo, it is hard to imagine that only 15 years ago the area was empty. Three decades ago, the zone was occupied by a freight terminal, and 100 years ago this was the place of the famous Shimbashi Station, one of the first train stations in Japan.

The freight terminal was closed in 1987, and the area was redeveloped as the Shiodome Sio-Site commercial district. Starting with 1999, a number of 13 skyscrapers and many other modern constructions were raised here and Shiodome became one of the most beautiful skyscraper districts in Japan…
