Kyoto Tera-machi

Sat, April 12, 2014

There are several cities in Japan where you can enjoy traditional streets with a high concentration of temples - the so-called Tera-machi, “Temple Towns".

But none of them is as picturesque as the Tera-machi in Kyoto. Although it really is lined with temples and shrines, beautifully adorned with chochin lanterns, this is, in fact, a cheerful area, a shopping arcade filled with restaurants and stores selling clothes, shoes, souvenirs, sweets and anything you like… A paradise for shoppers and a delight for travelers.
