Wakai tokei-dai, the Young Clock Tower

Tarō Okamoto is an artist renowned throughout the world, especially for his Tower of the Sun, the symbol of the Expo ‘70 World’s Fair held in Osaka.

A little less know is that one of his earlier public art works, created 4 years before, but in the same style, is displayed in Ginza, close to the JR Yurakucho Station. Called Wakai tokei-dai 「若い時計台」 ("Young Clock Tower"), it is best admired at night time, brightly lit in vivid colors…
