Japanese castle architecture, the tallest stone walls

Fri, January 17, 2014

The main tower (tenshu) of the Marugame Castle, one of the 12 still original Japanese castles, is located on top of a hill and can be accessed only by climbing a steep path, right next to the castle’s stone walls.

The climbing makes for a great experience, but for the photo I preferred the view from the street, showing these amazing 60 meters tall walls, the tallest castle stone walls in Japan.
