Japanese modern architecture, Shibuya 109

After 35 years since it was made, the silver cylinder of Shibuya 109 remains the best know landmark of the area. Strategically located in one of the Shibuya’s famous scramble crossings, the building designed by the Japanese architect Minoru Takeyama doesn’t look obsolete yet. The asymmetry makes it dynamic and it still attracts the demographic segment for which it was designed: women in their early 30s…
