Besides its imposing, 5-storey main donjon, the Nagoya Castle also features a closely located, smaller donjon (just 2-storey tall), connected with the main tower with a roofless corridor visible in the center of this photo (the small donjon is to the right, just behind the pine trees).

An interesting construction detail is that this corridor is equipped on its exterior wall with a large number of 30-centimeters spears, and because of these blades the wall is known as the “Wall of Swords". Of course, the weapons were encased here for protection - to defend the vulnerable corridor against the attackers bold enough to climb the Nagoya Castle’s famous fan sloping wall…
