Sightseeing Gunma, Takasaki Jigen-in Temple

The Jigen-in Temple from Takasaki, Gunma prefecture, is one of the most beautiful temples I visited in Japan, especially because of this spectacular lantern decorated hall.

The temple has also an interesting story: you are probably already familiar with the story of the Kannon Bosatsu statue from the Senso-ji Temple, Asakusa, which was found in the Sumida River by two fishermen.
A similar tradition is recorded here: the Kannon statue enshrined at the Jigen-in Temple was found by a writer named Yasuzaemon, while fishing on a beach near Kamakura…
