Started in Japan during the 1970s, the professional drifting competitions have become, in recent years, increasingly popular in the western world. And because of several video games and a Hollywood movie, now almost everybody knows what drifting is…
The “father” of the drifting was Kunimitsu Takahashi, who created the drifting techniques while competing in the All Japan Touring Car Championship races. Today, there are several professional drifting competitions all over the world, but the top competitions are still held in Japan, where a drifting Grand Prix (D1GP) takes place periodically on several cities. One of the most famous venues is this parking lot, the Aomi Parking from Odaiba, where the Odaiba Tokyo Drift is held annually.
