Located nearby the JR Hamamatsuchō Station, the Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden is one of the oldest Japanese Gardens in Tokyo, built in 1678 on reclaimed land.
Initially, it belonged to a samurai, Ōkubo Tadamoto, an official of the Tokugawa Shogunate.
The garden was ravaged by fire during the Great Kanto Earthquake, but it was rebuilt and opened to the public in 1924.
Today, even during winter, Kyu Shiba Rikyu Garden is an oasis of greenery between skyscrapers:
