A Very New Old Japanese Castle Gate

The Akagane Gate is the main entrance into the Odawara Castle’s courtyard and was originally built at the beginning of the Edo Period. Demolished at the beginning of the Meiji Period, was rebuilt again not long ago, in 1997.

The style of the original structure was kept by correlating the archeological excavations with the old drawings. Even if it looks brand new, the result is impressive:
