Hiroshima castle original method reconstructions

Tue, May 7, 2019

The Hiroshima castle was destroyed by the atomic bomb explosion at the end of WWII. After the main keep was rebuilt of concrete, a series of other buildings such as the main gate were reconstructed by using original methods.

In today’s photo you can see the main gate, a construction in the style yagura-mon (which means that it features a yagura tower built on top) and two corner turrets (sumi yagura) connected by a nagaya yagura, a long construction used as storehouse.
