Kakunodate Samurai District

Listed as an Important Preservation District, the samurai quarter of Kakunodate is among the best preserved samurai districts in Japan.

You can visit here a large number of samurai residences, including houses, annexes and the original front gates and wooden fences, all maintained in their original form.
