Tsumago-juku, one of the best-preserved towns in Japan

48 years ago, the townsmen from Tsumago-juku, an old post town in the Nagano Prefecture, decided to restore and fully preserve the traditional houses of the old town. Their determination made Tsumago-juku one of the best preserved towns in Japan, a place where the atmosphere of the Edo period is constantly maintained. Even the power lines are hidden underground…
