Kannon-do Gokoku-ji temple

Mon, November 26, 2018

Established in 1681 by the fifth shogun Tokugawa Tsunayoshi to commemorate his mother, the Gokoku-ji Temple in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, is one of the few places that survived through the World War II bombings din Tokyo.

The main hall, Kannon-do, was built 411 years ago, being the second oldest in the temple’s complex, and declared an Important Cultural Property of Japan.
