Exhibitions with chrysanthemum arrangements were held in Japan since 1000 years ago, but dolls made of chrysanthemum (Kiku ningyo) are a relatively new creation, appearing 150 years ago.
It is believed that gardeners in Edo were the first to make this kind of dolls, and the art spread around the country. Each doll is made of 100-150 plants, adorned with clothing and other items.
