I love how the artistic manhole covers in Japan are representing some of the most beautiful features of their local areas.
The manhole in today’s photo is from Kawagoe, representing the historical clock tower and symbol of the city Toki-no-Kane - “Bell of Time”. For 400 years, the tower was a part of the city landscape and the sound of its bell, which rings 4 times a day, is also one of the “100 Japanese Soundscapes".
