One of my dearest old and new views from Tokyo is this area from Tsukishima, with the Ishikawajima Lighthouse in the forefront and the huge apartment buildings in the background. There are actually three high-rise residential complexes near the waterfront of Sumida River, the Skylight Tower (40 stories), the River Point Tower (40 stories) and the City Front Tower (31 stories).

Erected in 1886 at the beginning of the Meiji period, the Ishikawajima Lighthouse was built by Shimizu Junki, a magistrate of what was then the house of correction from Ishikawajima, to provide light for the vessels sailing up the Sumida river.
Today, the lighthouse is almost lost among the many other constructions, but it retains the charm of its past:
