In the Shinto religion, the water god (kami) Suijin is one of the most important gods. Known also as Mizu no Kamisama or Mizugami, it is worshipped in many small shrines called Suitengu, built nearby springs, channels or wells. But there are also large Suitengu shrines, like the one in today’s photo, taken in Nihombashi, Tokyo.
