There are quite a few streets in Japan offering a look at how Japan was during the Edo period. Some of them survived from that era, while others were reconstructed in open air museums.
One of the most beautiful such reconstructions is the Boso no Mura museum in Chiba, a lovely place offering a taste of the feeling experienced by the first Western visitors to Japan, a century and a half ago.
