The best known sakura in Kyoto is a Shidare (weeping) variety, more precisely a Hitoe Shiro Higan Shidare Sakura, which means single petal, white, weeping Higan cherry.
Located inside the Maruyama Park in Higashiyama, it was grown from a seed of a similar tree which lived before on the same place. As you can see in the photo, it’s a spectacular tree, now over 80 years old, creating an unforgettable atmosphere…
