The approx 100 years old Suda-cho koban (police box), from the Edo Tokyo Open Air Museum, was built at the end of Meiji Period, at the foot of the Manseibashi in Kanda. It suffered severe damage in 1923, as a result of the Great Kanto Eartquake, but it was restored to it’s original state.
After the earthquake, the koban lost his importance and was used as an office for traffic control officers. Finally, it was donated by the Metropolitan Police Department and it was moved to the Edo Tokyo Open Air Museum in one piece, using a trailer truck.
Vechi de aproximativ 100 de ani, postul de poliţie (koban) Suda-cho din Edo Tokyo Open Air Museum a fost construit la sfârşitul perioadei Meiji la piciorul podului Mansei din Kanda. A fost avariat în timpul cutremurului din 1923, dar a fost reconstruit în forma iniţială.
După cutremur, traficul din zonă a scăzut mult şi staţia Manseibashi a fost închisă în 1943. Postul de poliţie şi-a pierdut şi el din importanţă, a rămas o vreme ca birou pentru poliţia de circulaţie şi în final a fost donat muzeului de către Poliţia Metropolitană. A fost mutat cu un trailer, întreg, la muzeul Edo Tokyo Open Air.
