The canals lining the streets in the samurai district of Obi (Miyazaki Prefecture) were originally made to defend the walls, but today they have an aesthetic purpose. Filled with beautiful, happily swimming Japanese ornamental carps, this perfectly preserved historical place is called just that, the “street with carps". It is one of the many reasons to visit Obi, a remote but very beautiful and welcoming town.
