During the Warring States period (Sengoku Jidai) the most important castle in today’s Nagoya was the Kiyosu castle. Its strategic location, at the crossroads of two important routes, drew the attention of the warlord Oda Nobunaga, who conquered it in 1555.
The castle was rebuilt of concrete 28 years ago, but since the original plans were lost, there’s no saying if it is close to the original construction. However, the reconstruction was designed to suggest the richness and the good taste which characterized the castles of the Oda clan. And the small gardens surrounding the castle are truly beautiful.
