Today takes place the most romantic festival in Japan, Tanabata. Romantic, because it is based on a story about two lovers, Orihime (the star Vega from the Lyra constellation) and Hikoboshi (the star Altair from the Aquila constellation), who are living apart, separated by a river (the Milky Way), and can meet each other only one day per year, on the July 7th Tanabata.
During the celebration, many streets are decorated with colorful streamers made of paper, symbolizing the weaving of threads, which is Orihime’s work… In Tokyo, one of the most beautiful streets to visit on Tanabata is Kappabashi in Asakusa, a street that is also famous for its kitchenware stores.
