A traditional Kabuki theater, unique in its kind, can be visited in Uchiko, a small town in the Ehime prefecture, Shikoku. Why is it unique? Because while it is still an operational theater, it is also opened for visitors as a museum.
You can sit on the small wooden benches as long as you want, you can go play on the stage, and you can even go backstage, to explore the secrets of a traditional Kabuki theater. There are numerous trap doors, hidden passages, and, for me the most interesting of all, in the basement you can see up close the wooden mechanism for the revolving stage…
