The roofed bridge traversing the pond of the Kodaiji garden is a magnificent wooden structure, designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan, called Kangetsu-dai, “Moon Viewing Pavilion".
This construction was originally part of the luxurious castle built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi at Fushimi. After Hideyoshi died, the castle was dismantled and the pavilion was moved to Kyoto, in the temple founded by Hideyoshi’s wife, Nene.
