The Jigen-in temple in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, has a legend similar to the one of the Senso-ji temple in Asakusa, Tokyo. It is said that a writer named Yasuzaemon found, while fishing on a beach near Kamakura, a statue of the Buddhist goddess Kannon. The statue was enshrined here in Gunma, in the Jigen-in temple.
In recent days, Jigen-in became famous for its giant Kannon statue, which is the 11th by height in Japan.
