With a history of 400 years, the Nishiki Ichiba street of Kyoto is one of the oldest shopping districts in Japan. Originally established as a fish market place in 1615, the number and the variety of stores increased so that today you can find here all kind of food stores, offering from vegetables to meats and from tea to sake and delicacies.
The street was renovated in 1993, when it became a shopping arcade with a vivid colored ceiling that goes nicely with the store’s traditional decorations…
