The narrow streets of Higashiyama are amongst the most crowded places in Kyoto… And since my height is quite short, many times I found myself here surrounded by people and unable to take a good photo to capture the beauty of the area…
But fortunately, in Higashiyama many streets are sloping, and I easily found several places where I was able to take some beautiful and illustrative photos of this amazing zone. Here’s an example, the street in today’s photo, filled with restaurants, tea-houses and omiyage (souvenir) shops, was preserved as it was at the beginning of the 20th century, even without the ubiquitous overhead wires…
