For hundreds of years, Ise was the most important place of pilgrimage in Japan. And where there are pilgrims, there’s also food and souvenirs. So, a commercial zone, Oharai-machi, almost a kilometer long, developed over time close to the entrance to Naiku, the Inner Shrine of Ise. Today, the street feels like a trip in the past, lined with shops and restaurants preserving the traditional look… A must see place if you visit the Ise area.
