The Amerikamura (or Amemura) area appeared in Osaka during the ’70s, when a group of warehouses were transformed into shops selling merchandise from United States, especially clothing and vinyl records… Today, the place is known as a “town for young people", with numerous clothing stores, coffee shops, bars and movie theaters, visited by locals and foreign visitors alike.
Of course, I visited it too, but to be honest it didn’t make it to my favorite list…. One thing I loved though: the vivid colored human shaped street lights adorning the entire area…
