To achieve the perfect exposed root in a bonsai, the bonsai artist works painstakingly for decades, the result being an amazing plant which is an art masterpiece at the same time…
… but the nature also created such masterpieces: the Kurama Mountain from Kyoto features an area, unique in Japan, called Kinone Michi, a place where the roots of the old Cedar trees are exposed, intertwisted on the ground… The explanation seem to be that the soil here is too hard and the roots were unable to penetrate deeply enough.
A simply beautiful sight…
