I like new buildings, especially the skyscrapers with daring architecture, but I also like older neighborhoods, remained as they were during their most successful times. And I’m not referring only to traditional areas, but to modern commercial areas like… Akihabara.
Akihabara is unique in the world and even if there are somehow similar neighborhoods, none of them is so… so shiny and glamorous. Here, the huge glass and steel skyscrapers seem out of place (although a couple of them were built here during the last years) and the relatively small buildings from the ’80s or ’90s, with their candy eyes billboards, make Akihabara one of the most cheerful and pleasant places from Tokyo.
Here is a wide-angle photo of an area that remained the same during the years, only the billboards are changing… and by night it looks really beautiful. I hope it will stay the same beautiful place during the following years…
