If you only passed through the platforms of Kyoto Station, you haven’t seen anything from this impressive building, the second largest train station in Japan. If you come by train and want to enjoy it, go to the North exit (Karasuma Side) and you will arrive in the atrium from this photo. From here, you can reach the most attractive areas of this 15-stories futurist place, filled with beautiful viewpoints…
A large number of escalators and walkways are inviting you to explore, while offering some beautiful views towards Kyoto. I made this photo from the second floor and in the front you can see the red umbrellas of a restaurant. But what is really interesting is on the far side, where a huge stairway creates a spectacular amphitheater that goes far beyond the roof visible here - the Grand Stairway.
This architectural masterpiece was created by Hiroshi Hara, the architect who also created one of the most beautiful skyscrapers, the Umeda Sky Building.
