The statue of Kannon Bosatsu in Takasaki, Gunma, is by height the 11th giant Kannon statue in Japan, with a height of 41.8 meters. It was built 81 years ago by Yasaburo Inoue, a businessman from Takasaki, and is now considered a protector of the city. According to Buddhist tradition, among the 33 forms of Kannon, this representation is known as Byakue Kannon, White-robed Kannon, known to intervene in the prevention of illness and disasters.
