My favorite sakura blossom views are those where there’s Japanese traditional architecture in the background, like this kanzan sakura twig in front of the main hall of Jourenji, in Itabashi, Tokyo, a temple famous for having one of the most beautiful Great Buddha statues in Tokyo. The kanzan variety blooms in the Tokyo area mid to late April, about a month after the more common sakura cherry trees.
