The Orii Samurai Residence in Takahashi was preserved as it was 170 years ago, at the end of the Edo period, when it was owned by a high-class samurai holding the title of uma-mawari, guardian of the daimyo (lord).
Photographed here is a life-size diorama installed in the main house, reenacting a peaceful scene from the life of an Edo period samurai family.
